Hepatitis C is a disease that causes inflammation and infection of the liver. This condition develops after being infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Hepatitis C can be either acute or chronic. Unlike hepatitis A and B, there's no vaccine for hepatitis C,

It is very important to understand about spreading of the hepatitis and how it can spread? Which factors are involved that help to spread it?

Here are some steps you can take to help prevent becoming infected with hepatitis C
  1. Never share needles
  2. Avoid direct exposure to blood or blood products 
  3. Don't share personal care items 
  4. Choose tattoo and piercing parlors carefully 
  5. Practice safe sex 


Incubation period. Incubation refers to the time between your first contact with the virus and the first signs of the disease. Unlike the flu virus, which has an incubation period of less than a week, incubation for acute HCV can take between 14 to 180 days.

Signs & Symptoms


When signs and symptoms are present, they may include jaundice, along with fatigue, nausea, fever and muscle aches. Acute symptoms appear one to three months after exposure to the virus and last two weeks to three months. Acute hepatitis C infection doesn't always become chronic.
